Unearthed Words
Ocean waves break at the thought of existence and wash up on shore to disappear,
We humans speak a word at that same thought yet discount those to be so severe,
The heat of the sun strikes the concrete below to remind us of its force,
Often we are careless in how we act whilst moving forward on our course.
The rain pours down creating the illusion of sadness and dismay,
Yet with this rain, and storms too, the negatives of our lives can be washed away.
For we are the ones that push the button, sign the paper or agree with a spoken word,
We are the ones who choose whether we act to be seen, felt or to be heard,
Fires burn, towns flood and droughts stricken the land in which we live,
Yet moments later, when the sun shines bright and our land breathes, we are quick to forgive,
With a spoken word or a careless act we are affected all the same,
However in this instance, when our emotions are attacked, we do not forgive; we blame.
We venture through this life with challenges before us and obstacles in our way,
Decisions will need to be made that can affect our tomorrow or even our today,
And just as our Mother Earth dictates the way in which we view each moment,
The way in which we communicate will be our individual defining component.
